The anti -capital campaign in Aragon starts with 627 professionals and 49 million inverted

So far, and as the Government of Aragon said in recent days during the presentation of the campaign, the current conditions of the mountain are “optimal” thanks to the heavy rains recorded during the fall and spring. Even so, as both the Minister of Environment and Tourism, Manuel Blasco, and the General Director of Forest Management, Ana Oliván, and the head of Forest Fire Management Service, Maribel Ureta, cannot lower his guard, warned, the majority of the fires have human origin.

The device

The operation deployed by the Environment Department includes 62 Terrestrial Forest Brigades, 8 helitransported and a total of 43 pumps, as well as 80 surveillance positions distributed by the three provinces. In addition, Aragon has nine helicopter bases and 3,569 water points for the supply of the media. During this phase there is also Bulldozers, off -road vehicles, nine aircraft (one coordination and eight operational) and a coordination network composed of four command centers.

Flame application and new technological tools

The main novelty of this campaign is the progressive implementation of the Flame application, an own computer tool that centralizes the weather, cartography, media monitoring, fire and statistical analysis parts. In addition, five new pumps and a new light command post have been incorporated, improving the reaction and coordination capacity.

The Executive has also started a specialized training plan for the Directorate of Forest Fire of Grade C and prepares a Cause Research Course provided for the next fall.

Preventive measures

Before the start of this campaign, different preventive measures had already been executed. Among them, the drafting of fire defense plans in the 28 territorial areas of Aragon and works on vegetation in more than 4,000 hectares. Also prescribed and improvements have been made in brigades, forest accesses and creation of new water points. In addition, the base of the Helitransporteda de Calamocha brigade has been expanded and improvements have been made in strategic areas such as Longás, Andorra, Fuencalderas and Sabiñánigo.
