History: A comparsa was born from the party commission

The Actur Cabezudos Comparsa originated in 1993, when a group of neighbors decided to form the troupe and commissioned the first big heads to the company “Aragonese of Parties”. Initially, it consisted of four big heads, but in 2004, the character of “Teresa Panza” was incorporated, known in the neighborhood as “Pilara”, reaching a total of five big heads.

Since its first steps, the troupe was accompanied by the group of dulzaineros “Os Chufladors”, which contributed the musical touch that accompanies the parades through the streets of the neighborhood. Over the years, the comparsa was renewing and adding new figures, as part of a neighborhood tradition that remains one of the most loved and expected. The comparsa is currently formed by about 16 to 20 people.

Characters: symbolizing the Aragonese culture

The comparsa began with five classic headers of the Aragonese culture: a baturro, a southeast, a sheriff, a large morico and a balcher. These characters, who represent traditional figures of the Aragonese culture, quickly became an essential part of the neighborhood celebrations. Over the years, the troupe was incorporating new characters, such as the “Berrugón” in 2017, which was ceded by the “Exalta2” comparsa. “El Pirata” also added in 2018, a character who was baptized by the residents of several neighborhoods.

In 2022, the “Morico Grande” was recovered, which had previously been removed due to its size and weight. However, this year, due to logistics difficulties, the “Morico Grande” will not participate in the holidays and a clown was incorporated that is baptized as “Joker.”

One of the most beloved characters, especially for the little ones in the neighborhood, is “El Morico”, which always generates great expectation during the parades, being one of the most requested by the neighbors to be part of the tour. Thus, the Actur comparsa continues with its mission of keeping a Aragonese tradition alive, adding new characters and maintaining joy at the neighborhood parties year after year.

The holidays: a living tradition

During the holidays, the big heads travel the streets of the neighborhood, creating a festive atmosphere that involves the entire community of neighbors. This year’s parties start this Thursday, June 11 and continue until Sunday 15, and during these days, the troupe will be the protagonist in local events.
