The mayor of Saragossa, Natalia Chueca, has taken stock of its first two years at the head of the session highlighting the rhythm of transformation that the city lives. According to the governor, more than 600 million euros have been mobilized in public works that are reaching all neighborhoods, reactivating forgotten projects and betting on a more modern and cohesive city.

“It is not remembered such a moment in Zaragoza except the months before the Expo“He said during his speech from the former sugar, current Neuralgic Center for Youth and Innovation.

Among the great advances cited by Chueca are the beginning of the works of the District 7, in the old Giesa factory. This project, with an investment of 18 million euros, will turn this degraded space into an audiovisual pole with sets, coworking, cultural areas and services for the creative sector. The new ecosystem will occupy more than 15,000 square meters and is expected to be finished in 2026, revitalizing neighborhoods such as San José, Montemolín and Las Fuentes.

Another key project is the CDM Zaragoza Sur, which will respond to sports and leisure demands of more than 40,000 residents of Casablanca, Arcosur, Rosales del Channel, Valdespartera and Montecanal. The facilities will have swimming pools, sports courts, children’s area and a pavilion for school use. It will be located on a plot of more than 26,000 square meters and its opening is expected in 2027. The investment will also be 18 million euros.

In social matters, the municipal government has allocated more than 200 million euros to improve the quality of life of citizens. The works of 2,291 affordable rental homes have also begun, “which seek to offer a housing alternative at affordable prices without giving up quality and sustainability.” This impulse responds to one of the key commitments of the current mandate.

The mayor has stressed that all this effort is being made without raising taxes, with a reduction in municipal debt of 33% and maintaining the lowest fiscal pressure between the large cities of Spain. He has insisted that they are acting with financial responsibility while transforming services and infrastructure.

In the next few days, the City Council will also boost the purchase of 23 new urban buses and the installation of a new kiosk in the Almozara. Chueca has concluded that Zaragoza is living a “transformative, exciting and real” moment, where government action translates into concrete works and palpable improvements for all citizens.
