He Aragonese audiovisual He already has a new international award in its showcases: the prestigious “wax palm” for the best documentary short of the 11th International Film Festival in the Mountains of Colombia. The award was awarded to the documentary “123 seeds of NIM”, directed by the actor and television presenter Adrián Buenaventura and starring the Aragonese NGO “Be social”. Set in Lamu (Kenya), the film follows the inspiring work of the Zaragozana Cooperating Lourdes Méndez, showing how education, rehabilitation and food transform the lives of 123 children with functional diversity in one of the poorest areas of the country.

The festival held from June 1 to 8 in the municipality of Salento (Quindío), had about 3,000 registered short films from more than 20 different countries. Finally, only 78 projects were selected for the sample, which brought together more than 20,000 spectators. Under the theme “Biodiversity and Culture – The Jaguar roar”, 10 official awards were delivered between short films and fiction, documentary and animation feature films. The festival crowned this documentary by its emotional force and its social and cultural commitment.

A documentary that crosses borders

“123 seeds of NIM” is a documentary that immerses itself in the reality of functional diversity in that country, socially very stigmatized. Thanks to the daily work of the NGO “Be Social” and Lourdes Méndez, these children access education, food, rehabilitation and medical services. Something that has transformed and radically improved their lives.

The documentary is articulated through personal stories and overcoming 4 children with different diversities: Abderramani, Sum, Jamesa and Julius. Demonstrating that with patience, love and work it is achieved that many of these minors manage to reintegrate into society.

The triumph of “123 NIM Semes” reinforces Aragonese talent and its international impact, revealing stories with heart and social approach to remote stages, capable of transferring borders and mobilizing consciences.
