Zaragoza will buy 23 new electric buses in the next few days

Saragossa It will incorporate 23 new electric buses into its public transport network in the next few days. This acquisition is part of the usual fleet renewal process, but also reinforces the municipal strategy to move towards a more sustainable mobility model. With these new units, the city continues to bet on vehicles without emissions, as it did with the 68 previous electric buses and another 40 that have been incorporated since 2023.

During the balance of the two years of government at the head of the Zaragoza City Council, the mayor Natalia Chueca He explained that the electrification process has had European financing, which has allowed not only the purchase of vehicles, but also the adaptation of garages for the loading system and the expansion of the recharge areas. This summer is also scheduled to enter into operation of three new two -story electric tourist buses, which will replace the current ones. In parallel, two new tram units have been incorporated and the forecast of progressively expanding the electric fleet is maintained.

Improvements in bus lines

As for the reorganization of urban transport, the City Council has implemented two new circular lines (CI3 and CI4) that improve the connection between eight districts of the city, facilitating displacements without the need to go through the center. The Lines 36 and 38 in Valdefierro, in response to neighborhood demand. These improvements are added to a notable increase in the use of public transport, which in 2024 reached 125 million validations, 7.7% more than the previous year.

On the other hand, the new public bicycle service, Bizi Zaragoza, has consolidated its success with more than 45,000 users and a high daily rotation. Each bicycle is used on average more than 15 times a week, figures that exceed even several bus lines. The network will be completely operational at the end of July, with 276 stations and 2,500 bicycles distributed throughout the city. In addition, investments in road safety and improvement of bike lanes are being executed, which completes a progressive transformation of urban mobility in Zaragoza.
