Jul 24, 2025

The Asphalt operation It has already begun in Zaragoza. The machinery was already operating on Tuesday morning on Loarre Street with the corner of Fray Luis Garcés Street, in Torrero, and will do so during this week in 13 more roads. In total, 43 streets distributed in 25 urban districts will see their asphalt in an operation that will culminate before August 15. All this with a global investment of 1.5 million euros that will affect a total area of 44,191 square meters.

This was detailed this morning by the counselor of Urbanism, infrastructure, energy and housing, Víctor Serrano, who has visited the first works Together with Julio Calvo, Vox municipal spokesman, group with which agreements for the 2025 budget were reached, where the endowment for this asphalt renewal action was included.

“The works are concentrated in four weeks to end before the bridge of August 15 and we have concentrated during the summer period because we consider that during the summer period there are less discomfort to the neighbors and the mobility within the urban area,” said Serrano.

In this way, “in this first week it will act in a total of 13 streets (twelve of lot 1 and one of lot 2) that add 18,829 m² again firm and that will be distributed between the districts and rural neighborhoods of Torrero, San José, El Rabal, Santa Isabel, Centro, Actur, Peñaflor and Montañana,” said the counselor, who has also indicated the following 14 streets in which he will act next week.

“The conditions can last in each street between two and four days, depending on the extension and the elements that must be assembled and disassemble drivers and pedestrians, and a more dignified and typical urban scene of the 21st century. ”

“The Asphalt operation is another sample of our commitment as a municipal government with the improvement of the urban scene and the streets of the city, because we bet in a determined way to transform Zaragoza, its public spaces, in all its neighborhoods, making it the best city to live, work, invest or form a family,” said Serrano.

For his part, Vox’s spokesman, Julio Calvo, has affirmed that “the transformation of the city begins with matters like this, the asphalting of streets, because we are convinced that they function as dynamic elements of the city in addition to strengthening road safety.” “To Vox,” he added, “the regeneration of the roads has always been one of the aspects that we have led to the negotiating table with the Popular Party Government team, and an inalienable point when approved the successive municipal budgets.” Also, Calvo recalled that “all we have done is to transfer the needs that make us reach different groups through the district joints and the rural neighborhoods of Zaragoza”

In this sense, Serrano has compiled investment data to illustrate the impulse of the municipal government to the Asphalt operation: “From 2016 to 2019, 139,641 m² were paved for a value of 3,238,018 euros. But from the change of government, from 2020 to 2024 we invest 14.6 million euros for 685,000 m²”.

With this investment spirit in the neighborhoods of the city, it has been designed, as Serrano said, a new asphalt operation for this 2025, with 1.5 million euros in 43 streets, all without counting the integral reforms of roads that also imply asphalt renewal. Also, Serrano wanted to remember that this 2025 Asphalt operation is part of the budgetary agreements reached with the Vox Municipal Group for this year.
