
Aspace drives coexistence units focused on the autonomy of people with cerebral palsy
People with cerebral palsy that reside in the new Coexistence Units of the Aspace Foundation Saragossa They have been the authentic protagonists during the official presentation of this resource. These spaces, created thanks to the support of Amazon Incommunities, allow us to move towards a model focused on autonomy, self -determination and well -being of people with great support needs.
The new model, away from the traditional residential model, has adapted facilities, specialized support and personal assistants so that people with cerebral palsy are the protagonists of their own day to day, from the choice of decoration, furniture or domestic utensils according to their tastes and preferences, and making decisions about their routines and marking their agenda with activities of your choice.
The IASS manager, Ángel Val, has applauded the initiative and has stated that “in this line they will always have our support, it is very interesting to see these facilities and how Aspace has defined these units of coexistence that are very important because it already allows you to speak clearly of autonomy and independence to the people who share them, and who direct their own life project with self -directed support.”
During the act, which the Minister of Social Policies of the Zaragoza City Council, Marian Orós and different responsible for Amazon, the residents themselves have shared their vital experience and taught their new home to the attendees, in addition to explaining how they manage their day to day, their routines and their surroundings.

The Foundation initially offers 10 places in these units, aimed at people with great support needs, but with the capacity to participate in decision -making and build their own life project. “The objective is not only to guarantee care, but to accompany throughout the life cycle from the empowerment, personal development and continuous improvement of physical, emotional and social well -being,” said Aspace Zaragoza manager, Mónica Iglesias.
In addition to the direct impact on people with cerebral palsy, the project has an important positive effect on families, which in many cases assume the role of main caregivers. This project not only expands and improves the resources of the Aspace Zaragoza Foundation, but redefines its institutional mission, consolidating a person -centered care model.
The most advanced technologies, in a renewed multisensory room
This Wednesday also took place the inauguration of other of the ASPACE Foundation projects: the Multisensory Chamber of the Educational Center of the Foundation, the College of Education Special San Germán, in which the government of Aragon. The renewed room is now a therapeutic space equipped with the most advanced resources, with vibroacoustic devices and Shx technology, immersive and customizable to each user person. All this designed to improve the well -being, communication and emotional development of children with cerebral palsy.
These two projects are framed within the model of comprehensive and personalized care that Aspace Zaragoza Foundation has been developing for more than 50 years, with the aim of improving the quality of life, development and social inclusion of people with cerebral palsy.
