The works of Avenida de Navarra reach 60%: new changes in traffic

Jul 24, 2025

The comprehensive reform of the Avenida de Navarra in Saragossa It advances at a good pace and already reaches 60% execution in its second phase, which extends between Paseo Calanda and Rioja Street. The City Council has confirmed that the expected deadlines are maintained, so the works will be completed before November of this year. As of this Wednesday, July 23, the works enter a new stage that will affect the connection with Rioja Street, with slight modifications in filming traffic.

From 8.30 am on Wednesday and until the end of September, access to the crossing from Rioja Street will be completely occupied towards Avenida City of Soria and Delicias Station. Traffic, including urban buses, will deviate through San Antonio Abad and Arias streets. This measure will affect the CI1, CI3, 36 and 42 lines, although they will maintain their usual routes and stops. In addition, the central area of the crossing will be occupied, which will work temporarily as a roundabout.

PLANO OBRAS
New stage of the works as of Wednesday

The access to the crossing from Navarra Avenue (Ciudad Ciudad sense) and from Rioja (direction to Madrid Avenue) will be reduced to two lanes, allowing only the right turn from the right lane. The bike lanes of both Navarra Avenue and Rioja Street will be interrupted at this point during the development of the works.

The works focus on the southern sidewalk

Currently, the works focus on the South Sidewalk, once the actions on the North Steel have been completed, where large sanitation pipes located more than four meters deep have been renewed and irrigation services have been installed for future green areas. This second phase has an investment of 5.3 million euros and will involve the incorporation of more than 2,300 square meters of green spaces, with 145 trees, 1,400 shrub and floral plants, and 92 banks.

In addition to beautification, the reform seeks to improve road safety. Unlike the first phase, crossings will be raised with the cross streets to give priority to pedestrians. The sidewalks will have continuity, forcing vehicles to reduce speed. The road will have two lanes in the direction and a double -directed segregated bike lane will be added in the central axis, thus giving continuity to the urban transformation initiated in the first section of Navarra Avenue.
