The redexis group will invest more than 34 million euros in the deployment of three biomethane floors in Aragon. More specifically in the municipalities of Alcañiz, Cella and Fraga, under the umbrella of the Biored company. The Governing Council approved on Wednesday the declaration of autonomous interest of the complexes, which is intended to create in total 27 direct and 51 indirect jobs.

The works will begin “in the coming months” and another 20 will be extended since its inception. The forecast is that the three plants are underway in 2027. As explained by the Minister of Finance, Roberto Bermúdez de Castro, the facilities will produce biomethane from animal and slurry remains and the energy will be injected into the natural gas distribution network.

According to the order of the Council, the process consists of the “anaerobic digestion of organic waste, the biological process in which microorganisms decompose organic matter in the absence of oxygen.” The raw material will proceed from “Primary sector and agri -food industries located in the vicinity ”of the plants.

The waste caused, called “digestate or digested”, will be treated to obtain fertilizers. A liquid fraction will be used for agricultural and solid application, which can also be used for such purposes, it will be used in other composting plants.
