ZARAGOZA pays tribute to the Local Police in the presentation of the book “Will of Service”
Help a person who suffers from fading, mediating between people who think differently, helping a traffic accident or simply monitoring a pedestrian crossing next to a school, so that children can cross without risk. These are just some examples of the daily tasks facing the Local Police Every day, whose 175 years of history have reflected the book “Will of Service” written by Oscar Bribián and illustrated by José Liziaga.
Thus, the presentation took place this Thursday in the reception hall of the Zaragoza City Council. Some chapters loaded with anecdotes, some sweeter, others more bitter, that value the tireless work that this figure makes every day. For the author, Oscar Bribián, “many times, the police are in the worst moments of a person’s life and that, somehow enriches you and also helps you to value your own life more.”
The Superintendent Antonio Blas Soriano has been in charge of promoting this project, a book of 238 pages that not only takes a historical tour from the foundation of the Municipal Guard in 1850 to today’s modern police force, but also value the human dimension of the institution.
The book is already on sale
The work collects key moments of evolution, curious anecdotes – such as the old patrol cars that looked like a teleopeora – as well as painful episodes, remembering the agents who gave their lives in an act of service. It is already on sale for 18 euros in bookstores of the Aragonese capital and at the headquarters of El Periódico de Aragon.
The mayor of Saragossa, Natalia Chueca, he did not want to miss the act. He said that ““ Zaragoza is, today, one of the safest cities of Spain, and that is not the result of chance, ”underlining the“ essential work of the Local Police in prevention, proximity and support to other security forces ”. It also highlighted the City Council’s commitment to the protection of women victims of sexist violence, a responsibility that is assumed“ with decision, despite not being a direct municipal competition ”.
The presentation has concluded with an emotional recognition to all agents, past and present, who have proud and professionalism to the city. “The Local Police is a guarantee of coexistence, quality of life and a safe city. This book is, above all, an expression of the best of public service,” said the mayor of Zaragoza.
