Zaragoza looks for the best living sculptures for the Pilar 2025 parties
Under the name “art in the street”, the Zaragoza City Council has launched a new contest aimed at living sculptures on the occasion of Fiestas del Pilar 2025. The call seeks to give visibility to urban artists and bring performative art to emblematic spaces of the city, such as the Paseo de la Independencia. The 20 selected proposals can be exhibited from October 5 to 11 and will opt for two economic awards: 1,000 euros for the best valued by the public and 500 euros for the second.
The deadline for presenting proposals is already open and can be done for free through the Municipal Portal of Contests, until August 26, at 2:00 p.m. The contest is aimed at artists over 18, both national and international, which can be presented individually or collectively.
Living sculptures must be autonomous, with static or limited movement performances, without the need for complex technical infrastructure, and always respecting the urban environment. In addition, you can act in morning or afternoon shifts. The public will be in charge of voting for their favorites through QR codes installed with each artist, valuing criteria such as originality, expressiveness, artistic quality or interaction capacity.
STREET THEATER
In addition to the contest, the Consistory has confirmed that the Paseo de la Independencia will become a large scenic corridor during the parties, accompanied by actions in central squares such as Aragon, San Felipe or Salamero. Local and national companies will lead to these spaces visual poetry, urban dance, comic theater or street shows for all audiences.
Among the participating companies are names recognized such as Markeliñe (Basque Country), the black mirror and rag angels (Andalusia), Ladinamo (Catalonia), as well as artists from Saragossa Like Maf Battle, Binomio Theater, Almozandia Theater or Marzoymayea.
