The XXXIV edition of the International Festival on the Camino de Santiago (FICS), one of the great cultural quotes of the summer in Aragon, begins this Thursday, July 31 in Jaca. The contest is inaugurated with the exhibition “Bach and the keyboard: the before and after”, which can be visited in the Diocesan Museum for 2 euros or with the entrance of the museum itself.

This year, the Festival pays tribute to Johann Sebastian Bach on the 275th anniversary of his death under the motto ‘The endless inheritance’, with a program that covers 19 great concerts and a parallel agenda of cultural activities in 13 locations in the province of the province of Huesca. Tickets are free (prior invitation reserve), except in the concerts of the Jaca Citadel, where it will be necessary to pay a symbolic rate of 3 euros.

Its commissioner, Luis Delgado, will also offer a free talk at 8:00 p.m. on the sample, which runs through the history of keyboard instruments from its baroque origins to the last technologies, including as curious pieces as an arch of the mouth of the Cameroon or a Micro-Theremin Digital.

On Friday, August 1, in Monzón, the prestigious Capella de Ministrers training will open the concert cycle with a program dedicated to Jaime I. Musicinemas will follow him in Huesca (August 2), L’Enantari in Tamarite de Litera (day 3), the cellist Iris Azquinezer in Bolea (day 4), or the duo formed by Antonio Serrano and Daniel Oyarzabal in Santa Cruz de la Serós (day 5). All concerts are programmed in churches, cathedrals and historical spaces, enhancing the connection between music, heritage and territory.

Throughout the month of August there will also be reference groups and soloists such as Bachcelona Consort, Claudio Constantini, Il his orchestra speaker, sete tears, the ritirata or atlantic ars, among many others. The Festival will culminate on August 22 in the Citadel of Jaca with the performance of Capella de Ministrers, which will perform medieval songs of the Buranus Codex.

In addition to the concerts, the FICS maintains its triple cultural offer parallel with its own seal: an excursion along the Camino de Santiago between San Juan de la Peña and Santa Cilia, the film cycle ‘Tarkovsky/Bach’ in fact – with the projections of Solaris, the mirror and sacrifice -, and a street theater cycle in Santa Cilia and Berdún in charge of the companies Markeliñe, Nasú Civiac and Utxun + Ortzi.

The poster of this edition has been designed by the artist Marta Ester, responsible for the nodographic study, who wanted to reflect in its composition the key elements of the festival: “The road, music, interpreters and territory”, using the photomontage technique and a chromatic palette that enhances the freshness of the set.

The invitations, with a maximum of four per person, can be reserved from the official website of the Diputación de Huesca.
