The kiosk of Las Letras, located in the former Municipal Library of the Paseo de los Bearnese in the Large Park José Antonio Labordeta, has become a reference point in the cultural life of Zaragoza. It was precisely this site chosen to host the first “Reading Party” of Spain held outdoors, an act that took place on June 6 in the framework of the City Book Fair.
The Municipal Board of Education and Libraries has once again programmed this literary plan together with the cultural field of the English Court After the success of the first edition. The date chosen is the second weekend of September after the reopening of the kiosk after the August stop. In the words of the Board of Trustees, Jorge de Gonzalo, it is an activity for which they hope to “overflow” the assistance forecasts.
A “Reading Party” is the demonstration that reading does not have to be a lonely act, but that, on the contrary, it can become a social event in which people meet and in which to exchange opinions about literature, art, music, cinema …
How does Reading Party work?
Everyone who wishes to attend has to carry his own book. The evening will begin with 25 minutes of reading in silence, will continue with 10 minutes where readers can establish conversation between them to know and discuss their readings. It will continue with 30 more minutes of silence in silence, to conclude with a sharing of this literary experience.
