The Teruel Airport continues with the responsibility of erecting itself as one of the economic bastions in southern Aragon and for this it will have a historical and record budget that will reach 46.3 million euros, 50% more than 31,085,000 euros of this 2025. of the amortization of a loan worth 15,000,000 euros.

The goal is to continue reinforcing this space as Reference Aeronautical Hub in Europe. As referred to in an interview with this newspaper by the director of the airport, Alejandro Ibrahim, in the coming years the 1,000 direct jobs will be reached and an investment exceeds 70 million euros is projected.

The 2026 budget

The bulk of the items for the next year will be concentrated, once again, on real investments, with more than 27 million euros for constructions, acquisition of machinery, facilities and technical equipment. It highlights in particular the endowment of 26.9 million for works in buildings and hangars, a figure much higher than 18.2 million reserved for this purpose in 2025.

These works are aimed at improving existing infrastructure and expanding the operational capacity of the airport, in line with the advanced by Ibrahim in recent months. Among the medium -term projects are the construction of new hangars, the improvement of the aircraft filming system and the commitment to technologies linked to the maintenance and recycling of airplanes.

Financial Control and Personnel Expenditure

One of the main novelties of the 2026 budget is the inclusion of a 15 million item in the chapter of financial liabilities, corresponding to the amortization of a loan that will allow to continue financing the expansion of the enclosure. In addition, the expense of technology and services is consolidated with a game of almost 3 million for current goods, including maintenance, canons, taxes and work carried out by other companies.

It is almost half a million euros more than in the previous year after the most notorious increase in chapter 2 and, specifically, in the tax area (from 720,000 euros to 950,000) and in supplies (from 679,000 euros to 961,000 euros). According to the approved budget, personnel spending also grows, although more moderately, from 686,000 euros in 2025 to 704,500 euros in 2026.

The remuneration of the director and technical personnel, with a slight rise, in addition to social and mutual quotas, are maintained. As an anecdote, the income of the director of the airport will go from the 86,000 euros gross per year to 89,500 euros, that is, some 7,500 euros gross per month in 12 payments.

THE IMPORTANCE OF THE FITE

The Teruel Airport, in full boom of the Defense Hub and in the Aragon of Milmillionaire Investments, is a strategic project for the current Aragon government led by President Azcón and his second, Mar Vaquero. The project, in the same way, continues to have the total support of the Teruel Investment Fund (FITE) and other capital transfers that will reach up to 25 million euros in 2026.

Vaquero Mar on the Fite: “We have directed two letters to the Ministry. It cannot be signed in December”

Inaugurated in 2013, and despite not having regular commercial flights, Teruel airport has become one of the largest aeronautical maintenance centers in Europe, with the presence of international companies and leading projects such as the launch of rockets or rehearsals with drones.
