This town of Zaragoza seeks inhabitants: it offers housing and new opportunities to start from scratch

At a time when depopulation continues to empty the rural map, some Aragonese localities have decided to step forward to attract new neighbors. They do it offering more than silence and landscapes: they talk about affordable rentals, local employment, fiber optics, health services and even municipal swimming pool. For many, it can be the door to a quieter life, with more time and less hurry.

The “Come live in a town” platform is the one who publishes these initiatives. It is a national project that connects people interested in moving to the rural environment with municipalities that offer real opportunities for housing, work and quality of life. The web collects updated data on services, rental or purchase prices, registered aids and connections available in each locality. In this showcase for the rural future, a small Zaragozano municipality of just over 500 inhabitants appears, located on the banks of the Ebro and only 58 kilometers from Saragossa.

At the historical level, Novillas was a strategic place in the Middle Ages, and retains remains of its defensive past. Its urban center maintains a traditional structure, with quiet streets and large homes that combine rural architecture and modern functionality. In addition, its proximity to Tudela, Mallén and Zaragoza makes it an ideal place for those who want to settle in a rural environment but with good connections. 

Novillas belongs to the Borja Campo region and has a population of 502 inhabitants. Despite its size, it has key services such as health center, school, nursery, supermarket, pharmacy, ATM and several sports facilities. It also has good Internet connection (fiber optics and 4g), which facilitates teleworking.

The municipality is connected by bus and has train station less than 20 kilometers, in cuts. In addition, Zaragoza airport is less than an hour by car. This accessibility, together with its natural environment and the closeness with Mallén and Tudela, makes it a strategic place for those who seek opportunities in villages of Aragon without giving up the basic connections.

What offers gun those who decide to settle?

One of the greatest heifer attractions is housing. According to the “Come live in a town platform”, there are houses for sale from 50,000 euros and rentals that start from 300 euros per month. As for employment, there are offers in the primary sector, services and industry, especially linked to the agricultural environment and small local businesses.

At the educational level, Novillas have school and nursery, while the institute is 4 kilometers, in Mallén. It also has its own health services and urgencies at 15 kilometers, in Tauste. All this allows families to settle with peace of mind and have basic needs covered from day one.

The objective is common: attract new neighbors offering affordable housing, basic services and opportunities to undertake or work without giving up the quality of life.

In Zaragoza, Orés, a picturesque medieval air surrounded by nature, and the Muela, which stands out for its economic activity, variety of modern services and infrastructure. In Huesca, Graus offers a balance between heritage, nature and services, while the region of the Somontano of Barbastro Norte and South adds several locations with real housing and employment options, especially in the north, where the proximity to the Natural Park of the Sierra and the Canyons of Guara opens the door to active tourism.
