
Huesca drives the recovery of historical heritage with the purchase of the Solar of Zarandia
He Huesca City Council This Monday has formalized the purchase of the plot located on Zarandia Street, until now owned by the Official College of Architects of Aragon. With this operation, valued at 329,651.60 euros, the Consistory takes a decisive step to value the archaeological heritage of the city and advance in the rehabilitation of the historic center.
The land, of 846 square meters and formed by four registration farms, was municipal property until 2004, when it was sold to the College of Architects. Now he returns to public hands with the aim of conserving and disseminating the archaeological vestiges found in the area, known as “Zarandia.”
The mayor of HuescaLorena Orduna; the Councilor for Urban Planning and Mobility, Iván Rodríguez; the Councilor for Citizen Participation and Barrios, Susana Oliván; and representatives of the College of Architects, headed by Ana Torres Buil, president of the demarcation of Huesca.
The mayor has highlighted the importance of this acquisition, which will allow “closing a scar in the center of the helmet” and combining the conservation of remains with a practical solution for the neighborhood. “On the upper floor, to protect the ruins and give a double use, we will build a parking lot for both tourists and residents of the historic center,” said Orduna.
The future archaeological park will also integrate the remains of the nearby “Catholic Circle”, creating a tourist tour that will reinforce the historical identity of Huesca and energize its urban, cultural and economic fabric.
The purchase, approved by the Governing Board on May 13, will be paid in two annuities between 2025 and 2026. The action is part of the municipal plan to recover the local heritage as a development engine.
