Several neighbors of Saragossa They have noticed on Tuesday an intense smell of smoke in different neighborhoods of the city, especially since early afternoon. However, no fire active in the municipality or nearby. In fact, the origin of this episode is located hundreds of kilometers, specifically in La Rioja and Navarra, as Meteo have confirmed Aragon and his own Zaragoza City Council. The smell reaches almost every neighborhoods of the Aragonese capital, from Casablanca to the Actur.
As reported by the official Meteo Aragón account in the social network X (formerly Twitter), the phenomenon is due to the wind direction, which is dragging the smoke from more than an active fire in the neighboring communities of Navarra and La Rioja. The smoke column, although diffuse, has reached the Aragonese capital, generating a feeling of pollution and a slight mist in some areas.

“Good afternoon. On the smoke that seems to be in different neighborhoods of the city, it is due to a fire in La Rioja, which is arriving in Zaragoza by the direction of the wind. There are no incidents of this type in the city right now,” they have clarified from the City Council of Zaragoza, thus moving tranquility to the citizenship.
It is not the first time that such a phenomenon occurs in the Aragonese capital. On previous occasions, fires in border provinces such as Soria, Guadalajara or even Castellón have generated similar episodes, in which the northwest or north component wind has transported suspended particles and smell of burning for hours.
From the Consistory and meteorological services it is insisted that there is no risk to the population or proof of any active emergency in Zaragoza. The phenomenon will send as atmospheric conditions change, so it is recommended not to alarmed and follow only the information of official channels.
