The Virgen del Pilar It will wear one of its most special and emotional mantles, a paper mantle made in Origami technique by the Zaragoza group of Papyroflexia. Since 2007, this tradition is repeated every year, but in 2025 a special value charges, since 80 years of the launch of the atomic bomb on Hiroshima are completed.
In Japan, thousands of paper cranes are deposited every August 6 in the Peace Monument of Hiroshima, in memory of Sadako Sasaki, the girl symbol of resistance and hope. In Saragossa, the gesture is also paper and memory.
In addition to the mantle, the appointment will include an activity from 11.00 to 13.00. Together with the emblematic metal bow tie located in the Plaza del Pilar, members of the Zaragozano Group of Papyroflexia will teach everyone who approaches folding simple figures from Origami. One way to bring this ancestral technique closer to the Zaragozano public and to pay tribute to Hiroshima from creativity and participation.
Free entrance to the Origami Museum every first Sunday
Coinciding with this informative spirit, the Origami Museum of Zaragoza (Emoz) launches a new initiative: free admission the first Sundays of each month, with initiation workshops to the one -hour papiroflexia (from 12.00 to 13.00 hours) for 6 euros. As an original brooch, the Zaragozano Papiroflexia group also adds to the 125th anniversary of amber beers with a curious challenge: a contest to guess how many papers make up the bottle model made in Origami. A nice way to provide, also on paper, for one of the most beloved brands in the city.
