Shadows and solar panels in the playgrounds will arrive in Zaragoza from September
Saragossa It will take another step towards sustainability and adaptation to climate change with an innovative pilot project that will combine the generation of clean energy with the creation of shadow areas in children’s parks. The mayor Natalia Chueca He announced it during the debate on the state of the city, stressing that this model of structures with solar panels will reduce the temperature by the hottest days and at the same time supply the environments where they are installed.
The Councilor for Environment and Mobility, Tatiana Gaudes, said that the City Council is already working on the tender of the project, which will be presented as of September. “This is a design that will serve to protect children from heat while we take advantage of solar energy for self -consumption,” he said. The initiative follows the wake of the solar parking lots already implemented in Zaragoza, where the city has been a pioneer in the use of clean energy.
The objective is to modernize the children’s parks of Zaragoza with a double approach: improve climate comfort and promote the use of renewable energy. In recent years, the City Council has allocated more than 2.5 million euros to the improvement of children’s play areas and the installation of adult gymnastics devices. To this figure are added the actions carried out within broader remodeling projects, such as on Navarra Avenue, Pignatelli Park or Salamero Square, which have contributed to renew public spaces and make them more accessible, green and sustainable.
