PICITO “FISHING”, by UTRILLAS, MAKES HISTORY: It will represent Spain at the Costa Costa World Cup
Pedro J. Romero, known as “Pedrito Fishing,” continues to make history in sport fishing. With only 16 years, the young man of Utrillas (Teruel) He has won a position in two of the most important quotes in the calendar: he will represent Aragon in the Spain Costa Championship, from September 18 to 20, and Spain in the World Championship, which will be held from September 29 to October 3, both on the beaches of Peñíscola (Castellón).
The extraordinary thing about his career is not only in his sports achievements, but in his origin. Pedro has for three years, the only representative of an autonomous community without a maritime coast that competes at the national level in the demanding Mar Costa Fishing mode, usually dominated by athletes from coastal areas.
Podium in fresh and salty water
In recognition of his career, he has been received by the mayor of Utrillas, Joaquín Moreno, who has transferred the support of the City Council to the important sports commitments that he will face in September.
In 2024, Pedro achieved a third place in the Spanish U16 championship, which opened the World Cup doors. This 2025 has been its best year: Aragon Champion in Fresh Water U20, third of Spain in Mar Costa U16 and third of Spain for selections in fresh water U20. A historical triplet that makes it, probably, the only young man in Spain that has risen to the podium in both disciplines, fresh water and sea coast, in the same season.
