Falls, injuries and dehydrations mark an intense weekend of bailouts in the Pyrenees

The second weekend of August has left intense activity for groups of Rescue and mountain intervention (Greim) of the Civil Guard of Huesca. Between Friday and Sunday of August there have been eleven actions for accidents and emergencies in ravines, trails, glaciers and ferratas, with victims of different ages and backgrounds. To these interventions is added the rescue of the body of the American mountaineer Cole Anderson, found lifeless in the National Park of Ordesa and Monte lost after almost a month of search.

On Friday the day began with the aid to two Barranquistas in the Barranco de Foz de la Canal (Bielsa), whose strings had been hooked, preventing them from continuing the activity. That same day, in the afternoon, two other Barranquistas were exhausted after completing the Barrasil ravine (Huesca) and deviate for another access, being evacuated by helicopter to Rodellar.

Waterfall rescue Saturday

On Saturday he started with the evacuation of a 54 -year -old Barranchist, a neighbor of Irurzun (Navarra), who suffered a lumbar injury after jumping to a pool in the Ponera ravine Fuente Tamara (Bierge). Minutes later, a 71-year-old mountaineer, a neighbor of Barcelona, had to be rescued in the GR-11 crossing, near the Anglia shelter (Posets-Maladeta), due to a shoulder dislocation. The morning continued with attention to a 29 -year -old from Sabadell, who fractured an ankle at the beginning of the lower trigoniero ravine (Bielsa). Almost at the same time, a 26 -year -old hiker, from Guipúzcoa, was evacuated from the Balupor Pozas (Boltaña) with polytrauma after a fall to different level.

The activity was not less this Sunday, a 56-year-old hiker, a neighbor of Barcelona, was evacuated from the Llauset refuge (Posets-Maladeta) with an overload in the knee. Shortly after, a 52 -year -old mountain from Mataró, suffered diverse bruises when sliding more than 100 meters through the Aneto glacier, stopping in some stones. In the afternoon, a 60-year-old French hiker had to be rescued in the Congosto of Mont-Rebei (Viacamp and Literate) by a dehydration picture.

The day concluded with the evacuation of a 40 -year -old climber, a neighbor of O Grove (Pontevedra), who dislocated a shoulder while performing the Ferrata de Iserías road (Canfranc).

From the Civil Guard they remember the importance of properly planning mountain activities, carrying the necessary equipment and being physically prepared, especially in heat and high influx days in the Aragonese Pyrenees.
