Free Charlot in Zaragoza: Harinera offers silent cinema and shadow for the afternoons of August

Aug 12, 2025

When the heat squeezes, the Garden Sergio Algora de Harinera ZGZ becomes a perfect shelter: shadow, good atmosphere and insured laughter. This month, the “cinema in the shadow: Charlot, the silent soul of the twentieth century” pays tribute to Charles Chaplin with a selection of shorts and feature films that show that there is no need to excite and cause laughter.

The unforgettable vagabond of bombin, cane and immense heart will be the host of four free sessions that combine humor, social criticism and visual poetry. From the tenderness of “The Kid” to the most unbridled slapstick of “The Rink” or “The Pawnshop”, through such emblematic pieces as “The Immigrant” or “Easy Street”, the cycle allows you to rediscover Chaplin on a large and outdoor screen.

Every Wednesday, a film

Wednesday, August 6 – 7:00 p.m.: The Kid (68 min). Charlot adopts an abandoned child in a story that combines tenderness, rebellion and one of the most remembered finals of mute cinema.

Wednesday, August 13 – 7:00 p.m.: The Pawnshop (25 min) + The Rink (24 min) + Behind The Screen (23 min). Chaplin between housing houses, skates and chaotic shootings. Physical humor in its purest form.

Wednesday, August 20 – 19.00 hours: The Vagabond (24 min) + Easy Street (23 min) + A Dog’s Life (33 min), with the presentation of Issa Lozano (Barroko Collective). Stories of margins and affection, where Charlot shares prominence with difficult dogs and neighbors.

Wednesday, August 27 – 7:00 p.m.: The Tramp (26 min) + The Cure (22 min) + The Immigrant (25 min). Cycle closure with some of the most beloved works of the character, between laughter, tenderness and social criticism.

The projections are held in the Sergio Algora Garden (Avda. San José, 201-203), with free access until capacity is completed. Harinera ZGZ remembers that this is an accessible culture space and that, in addition to free admission, the public can enjoy the freshness of the sunset between trees, in a relaxed and familiar atmosphere.
