Record of fines for camping illegally in the Ibón de Anayet: 86 proposals for sanction in a single operation

The Civil Guard and agents for the protection of the nature of the government of Aragon They have carried out a wide operation against illegal camping in the surroundings of the Anayet Ibón, in Sallent de Gállego. Between yesterday and today, the intervention has resulted in 86 sanction proposals after locating up to 46 tents installed without permission in an area of high ecological value.

The operation, in which the Nature Protection Service (Seprona), the Mountain Rescue and Intervention Group participated (Greim) of Panticosa and the APNs (agents for the protection of nature), was activated after detecting in recent weeks a significant increase of people who spent the night in the ibón, promoted by the promotion in social networks and websites of companies that offered stays without authorization.

Installation of prohibited campaign stores, in which area?

Anayet’s ibón and its surroundings are part of a protected natural space, where camping is only allowed under very specific conditions and with express authorization. This regulation seeks to preserve the flora, fauna and landscape of a large environmental value. The installation of stores less than 100 meters from the water sheet is prohibited to protect the ecosystem.

The complaints filed are based on article 18 of the Regulation of Camping of the Government of Aragon, and can lead to important economic sanctions. The authorities have recalled that camping without permission in this type of environments not only puts at risk the conservation of the natural environment, but also the safety of people, since the conditions of overnight are not controlled.

The Civil Guard and the Aragon government urge visitors to inform themselves of the regulations before carrying out activities in natural spaces and acting responsibly. Respecting the rules, they say, is key for these unique places to continue enjoying themselves in the future without endangering their delicate environmental balance.
