The DPZ will allocate eight million euros to the areas affected by floods
After the floods that occurred this weekend in several municipalities in the province of Saragossa, with special condition in Azuara or Letux, among others, the Diputación de Zaragoza has announced that it will enable an extraordinary loan of five million euros to deal with the damage caused in urban infrastructure and agricultural roads. In addition, another three million will also be allocated for the arrangement and emergency repair of road infrastructure, such as the Almochuel bridge.

Aragon requests to declare the municipalities affected by the storms
The president of the DPZ, Juan Antonio Sánchez Quero, has communicated precisely this decision in Letux. There, accompanied by the vice president of the DPZ, Teresa Ladrero, and provincial technicians, has met with the mayors and councilors of the rest of the municipalities who have suffered serious damage to listen and take note of their most immediate needs.
Among those priorities, Sánchez Quero has advanced that as of this Monday the file will begin to declare both the Almochuel and Villar de los Navarros road. In the same way, he pointed out that the municipalities, once the conditions by the DPZ technicians and no matter how agility are valued, can hire with external companies the arrangement of the damage, covering the expenses the provincial institution.
The provincial president has stressed that the DPZ “always meet the needs of the municipalities” and therefore and before a catastrophe of such magnitude “it was essential to meet with the municipal officials and know the conditions to work from our own services.”
In fact and from minute one, the firefighters of Diputación de Zaragoza have been deployed in the area, as well as the road service. This Sunday, a total of 13 troops are working in the area and around 14 or 15 vehicles. “We work on access to municipalities from roads and bring drinking water to the municipalities,” said Sánchez Quero.
Open paths and evaluate damage
On the other hand, it has been informed that there are farms that have no access and it is a priority to open the roads with DPZ’s own machinery. “I am worried to restore urban and agricultural infrastructures,” the president has recognized. It will be, in this sense, as of this Monday when the provincial technicians come to evaluate damage to the different municipalities.
Sánchez Quero has also regretted the uncoordination between the administrations, between the Government of Aragon and the DPZ, “when the objective is the same, restore and restore all the damages that have been caused” and therefore has insisted that “when there is a catastrophe of this magnitude, coordination is necessary for neighbors and mayors to be calmer.”
For his part Miguel Sanz, mayor of Letux and provincial deputy, has recognized that “it is difficult to evaluate the damage, when new new ones arise” although he explained that the most affected have been the municipal facilities and private homes. He added that there have been three most affected streets, and around 50 homes. After recognizing that “something like this had never happened in the municipality,” the mayor has highlighted the work of the neighbors before this catastrophe.
