The Aragonese countryside pays tribute to David Lafoz: “That being courage
The field has taken the Aljafería this Sunday, July 20, to pay tribute to David Lafoz, a young 27 -year -old farmer who took his life on July 9 because, he said on his social networks, “he couldn’t stand more pressure.” However, Aega, organizers of the tribute, have assured during the act that this day “is not to point out or to demand, but that we are to pay tribute, in an act of respect, of love, of memory towards David Lafoz.” The rage, impotence and complaints, they have added, “they will arrive.”
The people who have approached the Aljafía Palace to say goodbye to David were counted by hundreds. The tractors have taken the road in respect to the figure of the farmer, with banners that cited the motto of the act: “That being brave does not come out so expensive.” No one wanted to miss the act that has begun at 12 noon, but that already brought together public long before.
They have also assured that, although this has been goodbye, it is also “the beginning of something new, an agrarian revolution to claim the dignity of the primary sector.” And it is that David Lafoz never hesitated to denounce the difficult conditions that farmers and ranchers in Spain are currently going through.
Decided to fight for his vocation
Aega, an association of which David was a part, has defined Lafoz as “a young farmer who decided to stay in his town and fight for his vocation.” With only 15 years, they have assured “he chose the difficult way, he decided to fight for the field, for a future that seemed to refuse.”
They have roundly assured that David “did not give up, but the pressure was too strong. The sum of charges, work, inspections, bureaucracy and the lack of support turned their struggle into an unbearable battle.” They have affirmed that “it was not bad, much less a criminal”, but that the bad ones are “those who from their offices crush your life without knowing the smell of the field.” Thus, they have fired David “with a high head, with a full heart and with the promise that his death will not be in vain.”
“That the land you cultivated is mild you”
Thus, after the words of a chaplain, only the sobs of those who have not been able to contain the emotion have broken the minute of silence that has been dedicated to David. The emotion of those who have felt identified with the rage of the farmer, who have empathized with the pain of their family. Thus, they wanted to say goodbye to David Lafoz wishing him that “the land that you cultivated so much, and that so many hours of sleep took away, it is mild. That being brave and generous does not come out so expensive, that your legacy is eternal.”
“A country that needs the field to get ahead cannot afford to lose those who make it possible. This tribute is an act of respect and memory, but it is also the beginning of a new stage. A peaceful revolution, yes, but firm, fair and necessary. Because we are not the evils of this story,” they have sentenced from Aega.
Tribute in Madrid
This struggle has joined associations from all over Spain. Among them, the National Union of Independent Primary Sector Associations (ALEPI), whose president Miguel Ángel Aguilera, has assured that part of the legacy that David has left is “his fighting spirit”. Therefore, he has reported that they are preparing a last tribute to David Lafoz in autumn, surely in October, in Madrid.
There, Aguilera has assured that “we will join to fight for our young people, our children, for the primary sector, for agriculture, for livestock. We have to fight so that this situation does not happen again.”
David Lafoz did not hesitate to help in the Dana de Valencia
David Lafoz not only worried about the Aragonese countryside, but I do not hesitate to organize a wide device to collaborate in the areas most affected by the Dana de Valencia. That is why, to say goodbye, the president of the Ada Ribera Association of Valencia has come to the tribute, who has affirmed that “not a million thanks are enough for you, David, for your firm decision to help those who wanted to flood us.
David and his companions collaborated in towns and cities such as Algemesí, Torrent, Catarroja or Albal. “That tragedy is recorded in our mind, but also people’s altruism, people like you, David, who did not hesitate to leave their needs aside and came to help these flooded places,” he said.
