Street artists return this year to the Fiestas del Pilar

Jul 24, 2025

Street artists will return to the central streets of Saragossa during the Fiestas del Pilar of 2025 after some last parties wrapped in controversy due to the lack of these actors who encouraged citizens and visitors. During the Culture Commission of the Zaragoza City Council On Monday, the Minister of Culture, Sara Fernández, has assured that those street artists who have the annual license can also participate in the Pilar Fiestas.

As Fernández explained, citizen participation, in charge of granting authorizations, during the previous years “it excluded the Pilar parties that were distributed for the whole year.” Instead, this year he wanted to solve the problem including the most important parties of Zaragoza within these authorizations. Thus, artists can participate again in the streets.

In spite of this, the counselor has emphasized that, although the artists have the appropriate licenses, it does not imply that “they will be every day or at all hours”, but that it is a possibility they have and that it does not depend on the Consistory. Given this possibility, the counselor has affirmed that the hours and spaces that are deserted by these people will be covered with Cultural Zaragoza program if the City Council considers it.

Bars at the North Station and more accessibility

Also, in the commission it has also been advanced that the space of the North Station will have bars this year after the tender has ended with a winner. During the previous two Fiestas del Pilar, “these were deserted, despite having taken out the specifications,” said Sara Fernández. A situation that caused numerous complaints by the Federation of Barrios Associations of Zaragoza (FABZ).

In addition, during the meeting of the work table that took place at the beginning of March, Cermi transferred to the City of Zaragoza the need to continue improving in accessibility during the parties with the social policy area. Therefore, they will try to implement more signals, explanatory videos, adapted baths and awareness campaigns; as well as transfer these needs to the concessionaires of space spaces so that they are involved in “accessibility and inclusion.”

Decreasing the noise of pyrotechnics so as not to scare pets is another of the requests that associations perform. In this sense, the counselor has stated that the final traca is a “tradition” and that it has “difficult solution.” Although other proposals for Stop noise have been taken into account such as decreasing the noise level to facilitate the rest of the neighbors such as “the new orientation and the screen” that have already been installed in the previous parties and that has avoided “discomfort.” “We have to square those who ask for more holidays with those who ask for less,” he explained.
