The network of leaders, women directives in sports, has been promoting training actions to make visible and enhance the role of women in sports management for more than three years. Promoted by the Spanish Sports Association (ADESP), this initiative has already supported 1,200 women providing them with tools to encourage them to lead sports entities. A very necessary project taking into account that the Spanish Basketball Federation, by Elisa Aguilar, is the only one of the 66 that exist in the country chaired by a woman.
With the aim of transforming this reality, Saragossa It will host on October 24 and 25 the I National Congress of this network, an event that will bring together 250 people interested in following steps towards equality in sport. The general director of the Young Sports Foundation, Félix Jordán, has assured that the Aragonese capital was the best place to celebrate this event “for its facilities, its commitment to sport and good connectivity.”
The Superior Conservatory of Music will be the headquarters of the event and there will take place, round tables, workshops and the presentation of good practices related to the incorporation of women in all areas of sport. Likewise, initiatives that are marking trend and transforming the reality of women in the sector will be announced.
Congress has the support of Aragon Government And the general director of Sports, Cristina García, has transferred on Tuesday her intention that “representative figures of Spanish sport are coming.” The head of the Spanish Sports Women of Adesp, Asun Lorente, has also participated in the presentation of the event where he has affirmed that “sport is part of our lives and if women are half of the population, that has to be transferred to the positions of responsibility.”
The athlete Isabel Macías will lead the regional network of women leaders
This empowerment movement of athletes now wants to extend their influence to the territories also reaching smaller clubs and associations. With this intention, the network of leaders has chosen the Zaragozana runner Isabel Macías as her ambassador to Aragon. His role will be to represent the community and boast as a female reference.
