Javier Calvo Torrecilla premieres in the direction of fiction with Cariñena, the sea wine that already has a date for its national premiere in movie theaters: it will be on September 4, 2025 in Madrid and then make the leap to other cities. The film stars Itziar Miranda (Amar is forever, jealousy), Diego Garisa (welcome to Eden, Bosé), Alejandro Bordanove (kids, sees Fer Abans to die), Alba Martínez (Víctor XX) and Blanca Laínez and arrives in the capital after successfully traveling different points of Aragon, where he has achieved more than 8,000 spectators since his successful presentation at the Palafox cinemas of Saragossa On June 19.
In the words of the director, the film, shot in Aragon and Galicia, “it is a Road Movie of initiation based on a real story, a real person, but it really is a universal story of any young man at that time of transition to adulthood. I have always been interested in the initiation stories, the beginnings of a life, the moment of transition, when everything is possible, when everything is about to discover. Everything important, everything is very important, everything is very important in the limits. They stop being and begin to be at the same time.
Cariñena, Vino del Mar is co-produced by Varykino Films and Productions to Fonsagrada-Filmax and has the participation of Aragon TV, Television of Galicia, Crea SGR, D.O. Cariñena, Diputación de Zaragoza, Cariñena City Council, Zaragoza City Council and the Aragon government. Its distribution is in charge of Filmax.
SYNOPSIS
Galicia, 1978. Antón (Diego Garisa), an 18 -year -old boy as inexperienced as full of doubts, flees from military service, leaving behind his homeland and a father who had already drawn his destiny. In Zaragoza, he is integrated into a group of conscientious objectors, while he begins to explore his vocation as a writer and lives closely the first beats of democracy.
The job search takes him to Cariñena, where he meets Miguel (Alejandro Bordanove), a young man aim, as outgoing and liar as an endearing, with whom he forges an unexpected friendship. Between barracks, vineyards and laughs, Antón also finds the fleeting love of Cris, a young idealist and the friendship of Palmira and Isidro, two figures that help him grow and understand the world he faces.
An intimate and generational story about growing, choosing, and writing one’s destiny in a country that also tries to find itself.
