The Aragonese president, Jorge Azcón, considers that the National Museum of Art of Catalonia (MNAC) and the Generalitat “grab subterfuges” to delay the transfer of wall paintings to the Sijena monastery. This has been assured in statements to the media, one day after the last letter of the MNAC on the technical difficulties to assert the judicial mandate without endangering the frescoes.
“That was discussed and there is a sentence during the process. It is a thing judged that the paintings be transferred to the autonomous community of Aragon. It is possible, it is technically feasible, ”said Azcón, referring to the different pronouncements of Justice. The President has thus placed the Catalan institutions to“ comply with the word they have given and collaborate ”so that the fragments of the chapter room return to their original location.
According to Azcón, the Aragonese are “the first interested” in which the process can be carried out without damage. Therefore, “all means that are available and are necessary for that transfer to be done.”
The head of the Aragonese Executive has also reiterated that “the last word” regarding the paintings will correspond to a judge and not to the Generalitat or the Museum. “Luckily,” Azcón has apostilled.
