So you can consult whether or not you can access Ordesa and Monte Lost in periods of maximum influx

Jul 24, 2025

If there is a natural destiny par excellence in Aragon that is the Ordesa and Monte Lost National Park. And, if not, they tell the 650,000 people who visited him in 2024 and the more than 100,000 who do it every summer. The park’s capacity is 1800 people simultaneously, as its governing plan says and it is precisely why in the time of mass influx (such as summer or the bridge of all saints) the access road is cut with private vehicle and access can only be done by bus being able to temporarily suspend the service of it in case of mass influx.

Thus, visitors can now know before whether any of the four valleys is massified and whether or not access is allowed thanks to the new website that has been presented this Wednesday (https://pnomp.es/es). Through a system of alerts and with identifying traffic lights, each of the four valleys that make up the Ordesa National Park will be marked in green if the access is guaranteed and in red if it has massive influx and access is not allowed.

“In this way the visitor can see in real time and plan their visit and if there is any valley that is especially massified to change the route and visit any of the other three,” said the general director of Natural Environment, Hunting and Fishing, Alfonso Calvo. And by valleys, Ordesa is the one that receives the most visitors every year (a total of 279,000 people visited him in 2024) followed by Pineta (235,000), Añisclo (94,000) and Escuaín (42,500).

That is why with this new website, which is operational, it is sought to diversify the public that accesses Ordesa every year. Those moments in which access to Ordesa is suspended, have clarified, are “very specific.” “Last year there were about 22 days that took this situation and this year we have been eight. We want to remember that the park does not close those people who can rise walking. The governing plan says that there can be no more than 1,800 people and visitors at the same time. Therefore, when that quota for public transport is reached, they stop selling tickets, it is expected to go down, it will be reopened again and so on, it was reopened.

This new tool is located in the Sobrarbe Pyrenees Plan and in the first half of 2026 it will be complemented with a mobile app in which users will be able to book their tickets in the public transport of access to the park and the parking lot of their private vehicle at the time when access is allowed with it.

Information about time, restrictions and more

The website https://pnomp.es/es also offers endless more information so that users can prepare their visit. Thus, there will be data on the time extracted directly from the AEMET, practical recommendations on what can be (and what does not) do in the environment, tips on footwear or equipment to be carried and regulations.

Then, the web offers general information about the park and describes each of the four valleys (access, trails, centers and information offices and visit to the park in each of the four stations). The part with more information is that which contemplates the visit to the Ordesa and Monte Lost National Park where it is clarified how to access in the different means of transport, parking, mountain security and more useful information. This website will be translated into French and English and will be promoted in the access to the park.
