Aragon distributes 10 million in aid to rehabilitate public homes in small villages
As the Housing Minister has pointed out, it is “aid of between 50,000 and 66,000 euros per rehabilitated housing to which the 700 smaller municipalities in Aragon can opt and that will add a amount of 52.5 million euros throughout the six years of application of the program, thanks to which the promotion of some 800 public homes in the Aragonese rural environment is planned”.
The second call of the 700 program has been presented in Langa del Castillo, a small Zaragozano municipality of just over 100 inhabitants, which already benefited from the first phase of the plan with an aid of 105,034.84 euros to rehabilitate two homes. During the act, the Minister of Development, Housing, Logistics and Territorial Cohesion, Octavio López, stressed that “for the first time in the history of our community we have a housing plan endowed with content, budget and programs designed tailored to each and every one of the situations that make up the social reality of Aragon, and the rural environment is one of them.”
López has underlined the importance of meeting the specific needs of the 700 Aragonese municipalities with less than 3,000 inhabitants: “In what small town in Aragon there is no major street with 3, 4 or 5 closed or collapse houses? Well, to cure that scar for which this 700 program was illuminated.” The mayor of Langa del Castillo, Pascual Salvador, has celebrated the impulse of the program: “In our case with a subsidy of 105,000 euros and zero cost for the City Council we will reform and rehabilitate two homes that we urgently needed and that will help us set the population in the municipality …”.
The counselor has also defended “an aggressive housing policy such as the one we are carrying out, both in the cities and in the rural environment”, and has advanced a new program for municipalities of more than 3,000 inhabitants that will allow to raise rent promotions with option to purchase on patrimonial land.
The Minister of Development, Dwelling, Logistics and territorial cohesion, Octavio López, has announced the publication in the Official Gazette of Aragon (BOA) of the list of municipalities that will receive aid within the second call of the 700 program. This plan, included in the framework of the Aragón plan plus housing, It is focused on rehabilitating urban areas through public housing for the affordable rent in localities of less than 3,000 inhabitants.
