The Justice of Aragon, Concepción Gimeno, has issued a suggestion addressed to the department of Education To regulate the use of electronic devices in schools held with public funds. The measure seeks to avoid possible situations of discrimination among students for socio -economic reasons, as well as providing more legal certainty both to centers and families.
The recommendation arises after receiving several complaints from Aragonese families that showed their disagreement with the obligation to acquire tablets for school use, which in some cases had to be fully suffered by parents. Among the claims, the refusal of some centers to accept devices already available at home, such as older brothers or models other than recommended.
The suggestion also urges the Ministry of Education to study in depth the impact of the use of these devices as a pedagogical tool. The objective is to know its effects on the educational and personal development of the students, and if its generalized implementation could be generating unwanted consequences.
One of the writings received by the institution reports that more than a third of the families of a center signed a request to reduce the time of use of the tablets and prevent the acquisition of the devices from running exclusively in charge of the parents.
