The Autonomous Communities will meet with the Ministry for Tariffs in September

Aug 8, 2025

The third interherritorial meeting between the government of Spain and the autonomous communities to address the impact of tariffs imposed by the Trump administration on the Spanish economy will be in September. The Ministry of Economy led by Carlos Corps has already contacted the 17 Spanish regions as confirmed on Wednesday the Minister of Economy in Aragon, Cowboy sea. The two previous meetings, of which the DGA did not come out satisfied and in which it was demanded greater “Commitment and concretion”, they were in April and May.

“Yesterday we received a call from the Minister Corps to return to return to the month of September where we analyzed what that impact was and we move Dat Alierta project in Saragossa. “The most important thing for us now is to know what the real impact on Aragonese exports can be and we still have no we have them,” he added.

A delicate context

This meeting will still acquire greater importance than the previous ones in April and May since the protectionist impact from the United States will already be palpable after months of intimidation, negotiations and little clarity. And this Thursday, August 7, American tariffs enter the European Union. It will be 15%, a figure that has managed to be reduced by the European Community in recent days after an agreement in Scotland with the president of the United States. In principle, Trump threatened with 30%.

Of course, the members of the Old Continent continue to face the uncertainty and volatility of the intentions of the Republican leader. As notice to navigators, in the last hours the possibility of taxing tariffs up to 35% has already been warned if the requirements of the American tycoon are not met: invest 600,000 million dollars in infrastructure in their country.
