Four lost speleologists rescued in a cave in Benasque after seven hours of operation

The teams of rescue Mountain of the Civil Guard They have had a especially demanding onset of August in the Pyrenees, where they have attended 17 bailouts in just four days, between Monday and yesterday. Among the most complex interventions stands out that of four speleologists who were lost and were exhausted in the Cave of Alba, in the baths of Turpi, in Benasque. After more than seven hours of operation, all were located and evacuated in good condition.

In full summer period and with a large influx of visitors, the teams of the Greim (Rescue and intervention groups in Montaña) of Benasque, Panticosa, Jaca, Boltaña and Huesca, together with Air Units of 112 and teams of 061, they have helped injured hikers, Enriscados and Barranquista injured. The most common causes have been fallen, heat blows, disorientations and physical overexertion.

The Cave of Alba, the louder rescue of the week

The longest performance occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, when a device was activated to find four speleologists who had not returned from an exploration in the Alba cave. Tired and disoriented, they failed to find the exit. Benasque’s Greim agreed to the interior and rescued them after more than seven hours of search. There were three men and a woman, between 47 and 59, residents of Barcelona, Cunit (Tarragona) and Lleida.

That same day there were seven more bailouts, such as that of an injured hiker in Sallent de Gállego, another in Fanlo evacuated to Broto, a French woman with a damaged ankle in Alquézar, and two Barcelona with vomiting in the Ibón de Remuñe. Two French were also treated with a fracture in Gavieto Sur, two Zaragozans with heat stroke symptoms in the Peña Rueba ferrata, and two corridors eniscounted in the Brazato Collado.

Climbers, hikers and older ones, among those treated

A day earlier, on Monday, two lost German climbers were helped in the descent of the Mallo Viera, a Zaragoza with a strong allergic reaction in Escarra, to a French Barranquist with dislocation in Tella-Sin, and two mountaineers trapped in Peña Otal (Torla).

On Wednesday, the performances continued with a Madrid couple injured in Bielsa, a Navarrese hit in the hip, a hiker of Tarrasa disoriented in Roya belt, an octogenarian with sprain in the Ibón de Pinarra, and a 52 -year -old Madrid -like assisted by a possible vertebral fracture in the stands of the SOASO.

From the Civil Guard they insist on the importance of adequate planning, information on the conditions of the land and meteorology, as well as going well equipped and not ignoring the first signs of fatigue, especially in the middle of high season in the mountain.
